July 2001 - Ended relationship with Stephen Jenkins, because he would not seriously consider marriage.
August 2001 - Began dating Stuart Townsend, an Irish actor, who costarred with Charlize in 'Head in the Clouds'.
I found it interesting that Charlize Theron and Stephen Jenkins broke up because he would not seriously consider marriage. Now with Stuart Townsend, Charlize has said that she will not get married until same-sex couples have the same right to do so. An action and belief that I truly applaud. Though it has been a few years, and it doesn't always take much time to "grow up", it still makes me wonder. Has she found a different type of love with Stuart, is she more secure in his feelings, or does she just realize now that a piece of paper doesn't really make as much difference as it did 100 years ago. The thought that a talented, beautiful woman like Charlize Theron could have the same insecurities of the rest of womankind simply makes me admire her more.
